The Auberry Chapter of the Central Valley Tea Party will meet the third Wednesday of each month at the Pizza Factory, 29424 Auberry Rd, Prather from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. May 16 is our next meeting in which former Fresno Mayor Jim Patterson will be our guest speaker. Mr. Patterson is running for Assemblymember Dr. Linda Halderman's soon vacant and newly-created 23rd California Assembly District in which we live. In addition to being the Mayor of Fresno, Jim was a Board Member of the Fresno County Transportation Authority and Board Member of the Council of Fresno County Governments (COG). Our Auberry community has this opportunity to meet and ask questions of Mr. Patterson to make an educated decision from his platform to represent us in Sacramento. Jim has frequented and spoke at many Central Valley Tea Party events.
We will also have a petition to stop SB 48. In July, California Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 48 into law. SB 48 forces teachers and administrators to enter into the divisive debate over sexual orientation and morality and to portray only one side of that debate. They are being asked not to tolerate but to advocate. Under SB 48, starting in January of 2012, schools are required to add instruction about the role and contribution of LGBT individuals historically with particular emphasis on portraying the role of these groups in contemporary society. The sponsors have repeatedly asserted that SB 48 mandates this provocative material for California students in all grades from K-12.
Those interested in our Tea Party may be Democrat, Republican, Independent or political novices who agree with our three core values of Constitutionally Limited Government, Fiscal Responsibility and Free Market Principals, consistent with Individual Freedom. We discuss legislation and candidates on a local, State and Federal level. Anyone interested may attend. Contact Ron or Amanda Arteno at 855-8552 for info
